What We Believe
At New Jerusalem Baptist Church, we believe in the life-changing power of the Gospel and the authority of God’s Word. Our faith shapes how we live, love, and serve—guiding us to honor Christ, grow in truth, and impact the world around us.
1. The Bible – God’s Infallible Word
We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are God‑breathed, wholly trustworthy, and our final authority for faith and life.
2. One Eternal God in Trinity
We affirm there is one God—eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—united in essence and purpose.
3. Jesus Christ – Savior and Lord
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who, by the power of the Holy Spirit, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return again.
4. The Holy Spirit – Our Helper
We affirm that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, regenerates and indwells believers, empowers us for godly living and ministry, and guides us into all truth.
5. Humanity’s Fallen Condition
We believe that all people are sinners by nature and choice, separated from God, and in need of spiritual rebirth to be reconciled to Him.
6. Salvation by Grace Through Faith
We believe salvation is a free gift of God received only by faith in Jesus Christ—not earned by works—resulting in forgiveness, new life, and eternal security.
7. Believer’s Baptism by Immersion
We practice baptism by immersion as the public declaration of one who has personally trusted in Christ, symbolizing death to sin and resurrection to new life.
8. The Lord’s Supper – A Sacred Reminder
We observe the Lord’s Supper (Communion) as a solemn, ongoing remembrance of Christ’s sacrificial death, open to all believers.
9. The Great Commission & Evangelism
We affirm the Lord’s command to share the Gospel and make disciples of all nations, actively living our faith and supporting mission.
10. The Return of Christ, Final Judgment & Eternal Destiny
We believe Jesus will return visibly and bodily, that all people will be resurrected and judged, and believers will enjoy eternal life while unbelievers face eternal separation from God.
